eduction-1.jpgA visit to Flame combines learning, exploration and fun and is a unique educational resource for both Primary and Secondary schools.

We have a range of material, including teachers’ notes, pupils’ worksheets and hands-on workshop activities. Although our package caters for Key Stages 2 & 3 of the NI Curriculum, we can also tailor things to your specific requirements.

Pupils will be taken on a guided journey of discovery to see how gas was made from coal in Victorian times and its use for light, heat and power. They will learn about the impact of this new energy source on Victorian society, and the science behind its production.

Flame also has an unparalleled display of gas-related appliances: gas rings, heaters, cookers, pokers, irons, lights, and penny-in-the-slot meters. Modern appliances also show how the old ways have been adapted to the natural gas we use today.

There are on-site toilets and coach parking, and a heated covered area where children can eat their lunch.

In short, we can offer your pupils a memorable experience, combining history and science in the only remaining Victorian coal gasworks in Ireland.
